DESCRIPTION: APW - E. Howard & Co, Boston, Series X, 15J, J-S (just under 12S), 14K rose gold OF original E.H. & Co. case, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, fancy gold Louis XV style hands, SW-SS, nickel damascene, s#500352. Gross weight of assembled watch 53.3 dwt (83.2 g). An attractive original example of this scarce watch, total production of the J sized Howard was 1500 made and good original cased examples are challenging to find.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, winding mechanism with few mild slips during winding, crown must be held with upward pressure while setting or it will retract to wind position, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, fine scratch between stem detent screw position and edge of plate above "d" in "Howard," small marring tight around stem detent screw, some micro-fine scratches, regulator spring with areas of discoloration possibly from heating; dial with hl at 5, hl at 6:30, hl above seconds-register; fine hands, minute with small crimp at tip; case shows medium wear, no dents or dings, band with significantly reduced engraving detail including full loss at bottom edge; tight bow, crown shows light to medium wear; glass crystal with edge flake at left side.
